– 1/3 cup (heaping) vanilla ice cream
– Grandma Sycamore’s White Bread
– 1 cup sugar
– 3 Tbs Cinnamon
– Vegetable Oil
Toppings:
– whipped cream
– chocolate sauce
– caramel sauce
INSTRUCTIONS:
Scoop a heaping 1/3 cup of ice cream and roll it into a ball. Place the ice cream in a container uncovered in the freezer (preferably over night).
Once the ice cream is frozen hard, slice the crust off of 2 pieces of bread. Sandwich the ice cream between the bread slices and pinch the bread around the ice cream making a bread ball. Place in the freezer uncovered and freeze it until hard (at least 2 hours or preferably overnight).
Mix cinnamon and sugar into a bowl and set aside.
Once the ice cream is completely frozen, warm vegetable oil in a sauce pan on medium high heat (about 10 – 20 min). Test the oil by frying a piece of bread. The oil is ready when the bread is golden and crispy.
Use a METAL slotted ladle. Place the frozen ice cream bread ball into the ladle and dip it into the oil. Remove when the bread is dark golden brown (about 30 – 45 seconds). Cover the fried ice cream with cinnamon sugar and top with your favorite toppings.
